About Soner Tarim
Dr. Soner Tarim currently serves as CEO and Superintendent of Schools for Harmony Public Schools, a network of charter schools in locations throughout Texas. Harmony Public Schools focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math, preparing students for exciting and rewarding careers in ever-evolving industries. Harmony Public Schools possesses a remarkable college acceptance rate of 100 percent and offers a high school curriculum that prepares students for rigorous undergraduate studies. As CEO, Dr. Soner Tarim oversees the activities of 38 campuses that serve 24,000 students. With 2,200 faculty members, students benefit from small school environment.
Prior to helping with the founding of Harmony Public Schools, Dr. Soner Tarim attended Texas A&M University, one of the state’s most prestigious institutions and one of the country’s highest ranking universities. As a doctoral candidate, Dr. Tarim studied biology and ecology. He served as a Graduate Assistant and taught several courses with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences and the Department of Renewable Natural Resources. Dr. Soner Tarim also used his skills as the T.A. Coordinator, in which role he organized and oversaw activities presented by the Fundamentals of Ecology lab. He earned his Ph.D. in 2002.
Dr. Soner Tarim is also a Certified Trainer through the Texas Education Agency, a title that allows him to train school board members, school administrators, business officers, and superintendents. He was also nominated by the State Board of Educators to be a Grant Reviewer, taking on responsibility for the review of grants submitted to the Texas Education Agency. Dr. Tarim belongs to a Board that represents charter schools and also holds memberships with the Association of Charter School Educators and the Charter School Resource Center of Texas.
